Musical Director: Geraint T Jones

Geraint began his involvement with bands at an early age, playing with the local Salvation Army Band in Maesteg, South Wales. He studied at the Welsh College of Music and Drama, where he was awarded the L.T.C.L., F.T.C.L. and L.W.C.M.D. diplomas. In 1983, he moved to Derbyshire to teach, and now divides his time between conducting the Phoenix Concert Band and classroom teaching in Chesterfield. During his playing career he has performed with the B.B.C. Welsh Symphony Orchestra and under notable conductors such as Sir Charles Groves and Sir Simon Rattle.
